APPEAL OF THE PRESIDENT - GIFT LIFE!

President of City Municipality of Palilula, Prof. Dr. Igor Novakovic, once again called on the citizens, especially the blood donors and those who feel the need to respond to the action of typing - GIFT LIFE, which will be held in Nis on Saturday, 09 July 2011 on Saturday in the House of the Army of Serbia (from 09 am to 6 pm).

I am going to with my associates, says president Igor Novakovic offer blood and I expect to do so and those who can imagine what it means loss of one life. With this activity we help to our young fellow citizen Tomislav Cvetković (a 34 yr.) suffering from acute leukemia whose life currently is threatened, as well as other patients. It is urgent to find potential matching donors. From individual shall be taken peripheral blood and according to applicable ethical standards, peripheral blood donors will sign informed consent.

This campaign aims to raise public awareness about transplantation and donation of organs and tissues, to increase the number of donors and reduce the length of waiting for organs and stem cells for transplantation. It means hope for transplant patients to whom only transplantation is the only form of treatment. Action of typing citizens of Nis will be carried out under the direct leadership, of Prof. Dr Nadezda Basara, Director of Internal Clinic Hospital St. Franciskus in Flensburg, Germany and support from the University of Nis, Faculty of Medicine, Clinical Center Nis-Clinic of Hematology and Immunology, City of Nis, City Municipality of Palilula and other municipalities, organizations and institutions.
